Drug Awareness Recovery Through Treatment (D.A.R.T.)
A program aimed at providing basic information about substance abuse and increasing a youth’s understanding of addictions and willingness to further treatment if necessary
Today drug related problems include personal and family unhappiness, increased crime and highway accidents and ever growing law enforcement and health care costs.
The Drug Awareness and Recovery through Treatment Program consists of six, two hour sessions, one evening per week.
GOALS:
1. To provide an environment where teens feel safe to explore their needs; particularly those leading to the use off drugs and problems with the law
2. To provide a non-judgmental, non-threatening atmosphere in which to explore alternatives and develop skills to meet needs.
3. To help teens explore and utilize personal strengths, community and family supports to facilitate recovery
4. To help teens recognize and understand the effects of substance abuse by family members or friends and enable the teen to develop effective coping skills to adapt to the challenge of peer pressure
