WHAT ARE NSAP PROGRAMS?
The John Howard Society offers both a moderate and low intensity NSAP program in the local community which is open to all men who meet the selectionb criteria. NSAP Moderate consists of 26 group and individual sessions where NSAP Low intensity program consists of 10 group sessions and 12 follow-up maintenance or booster sessions.
PROGRAM GOALS:
- Increase the participant’s chnaces of a successful recovery from their addiction
- Setting and developing motivation to attain goals
- Analysis/ identification of thoughts, feelings and behaviour that trigger substance abuse
- Examining individual 'risk situations' and developing active coping strategies
- Coping with cravings
- Slip management and prevention of relapses
- Balancing lifestyle and eliminating dependence

The NSAP Moderate Intensity Program consists of 4 phases beyond assessment including:
- Deciding what I would lsike to change
- Inproving the odds
- Learning the tools for change
